CASE STUDY: Engineering the Future of Sustainable Exhibition Design at ExCeL London
Impactful yet sustainably-focused exhibition booth at Excel
ForgeRock Event Booth
When ForgeRock wanted to make a bold, impactful statement at a major industry event at ExCeL London, they needed an exhibition booth that reflected both their cutting-edge technological status and a deep commitment to corporate social responsibility.
Indigo Splash stepped up to deliver a masterclass in event production. By seamlessly blending high-quality audio visual solutions with technically creative decorative elements, the team proved that high-impact, premium brand experiences do not have to come at the cost of the planet. The result was ForgeRock’s most sustainable, creative, and impactful exhibition booth to date, delivered entirely on time and on budget.
The Challenge: Reducing Waste
The exhibition and event industry is notoriously high-waste, often relying on single-use plastics, short-lived materials, and disposable fixtures.
ForgeRock’s challenge to Indigo Splash was to create a highly engaging, professional, and premium tech-focused booth capable of capturing attention in the massive, competitive environment of ExCeL London.
This had to be achieved while significantly minimising the environmental footprint of the build without compromising on structural integrity, aesthetic brilliance, or technical capability.
The Indigo Splash Solution
Led by Nick and the technical production team, Indigo Splash approached the brief with their signature positivity and creative energy. The solution required looking at every single decorative and structural element through an engineering lens to ensure full recyclability and a circular lifecycle.
High-Quality AV & Event Technology Integration
To match ForgeRock’s status as a leader in digital identity management, Indigo Splash integrated flawless, high-performance AV elements into the sustainable structure.
- Display tech, lighting, and cable management were cleverly engineered directly into the wooden modular walls to maintain a clean, ultra-modern aesthetic.
- Deploying low-energy LED displays and smart lighting arrays to minimize the booth’s active carbon footprint during the exhibition.
Technically Creative & Sustainable Aesthetics
Instead of relying on industry-standard single-use plastics and disposable vinyls, Indigo Splash engineered a premium look using sustainable, natural materials.
- The core booth structures were custom-built from sustainably sourced wood and fully recyclable materials, offering a premium architectural feel
- Traditional single-use exhibition carpeting was scrapped in favour of high-quality wooden flooring designed to be salvaged, packed down, and reused for future installations
- Moving away from artificial, plastic greenery, the team integrated live, real plants into the architecture of the booth
Circular Lifecycle & Post-Event Logistics
Indigo Splash managed the entire end-of-life logistics for the booth assets, demonstrating that sustainability doesn’t end when the exhibition doors close.
- To create a welcoming, high-end meeting space, premium furniture and rugs were sourced from IKEA. Post-event, instead of heading to a skip, the Indigo Splash team handled the logistics to ensure 100% of the furniture was donated to local charities.
- Single-use water bottles were completely eliminated from the stand, replaced by an integrated, high-capacity water cooler infrastructure.
The Results
The collaboration resulted in a benchmark-setting exhibition presence that resonated powerfully with attendees and stakeholders alike.
- Through meticulous planning, the vast majority of the booth was either stored for reuse, recycled, or donated to charity
- The combination of warmth from the natural materials and the crisp, high-quality AV integration created an inviting, high-traffic hub on the ExCeL show floor
- True to Indigo Splash’s reputation, the entire project was executed seamlessly, turning complex environmental constraints into creative triumphs
Client Verdict
“The last event that I ran with Indigo Splash at the ExCel, London was the most sustainable, creative and impactful booth I have ever had the pleasure of showcasing. With full credit going to the Indigo Splash team… In an industry that generates an enormous amount of waste, I believe we all have a responsibility to do better — and Indigo Splash genuinely gets that.
They don’t just execute events; they think about the people, the planet, and the lasting impression those events leave behind. If you’re looking for a team that combines creative brilliance with real social conscience, look no further. Nick and his team are the gold standard.”
